Three decades after the collapse of state socialism in Europe the topic of post-socialist cities remains controversial and rather under-researched; particularly the exact ways of its spatial implications. The reason for this should also be found in the nature of built urban environment, which requires more time to change and reflect new ideologies.

This conference seeks to bring together leading built environment academics from across Europe to discuss issues of post-socialist transition and its effects on built urban environment from the timely distance of three decades after the fall of state-socialism in Central and Eastern Europe. In particular we welcome sessions that will challenge and advance our knowledge and practice around the complex links between neoliberal development agenda, post-socialist identity formation, representation of cities and urban space.
